UNIVERSITY INVESTOR SERIES
WHAT IS UIS?
The University Investor Series, or UIS, is a virtual pitch-fest for university startups conducted via Zoom. This program is open to all current matriculated university students, faculty, or alumni affiliates. The team must be an active, operating company with an MVP or prototype and a web presence to be eligible.
By offering this series, students gain early access to connections with strong communities of startup investors within the United States, and also receive in-depth feedback on their venture raise, go-to-market strategy, and growth plan, as well as a chance to win $100k investment from Quake Capital.
WHO SHOULD APPLY?

Any person who is affiliated with a university (this only needs to be one member of the team). Affiliates include: faculty, staff, matriculated students (undergraduates and any affiliated graduate schools), alumni

Teams with traction, which means the product is in market; i. e. "dog eating the dog food".
HOW IT WORKS

10 teams are selected per competition to pitch to a team of early stage investors.

6 minute pitches are conducted via Zoom followed by a few minutes of Q&A

All teams will receive feedback on their idea and pitch from investors

Winning teams are notified and invited to the final round of UIS

Access to exclusive resources and perks only available to our portfolio companies ($100k in Google Cloud credits, $15-100k in AWS credits, etc.)

A spotlight in our monthly investor and LP newsletter as well as social media channels

Feedback on product, pitch, and go-to-market strategy from leading investors

Automatic acceleration through our due diligence process to round 2 (of which only the top 2% of applicants achieve) for a chance to be accepted into the Quake program and $100k of investment from Quake.
ABOUT THE QUAKE PROGRAM
Quake is an industry-agnostic venture capital fund and continuity program with offices in the U.S. and Europe. Our accelerator program in New York City recruits teams from all around the world. As a team, Quake looks to build startup ecosystems and enhance innovation across multiple industry verticals and geographies. We invest $100,000 in each company. In terms of what we look for - we focus heavily on traction, team, and market opportunity.
Our goal is to merge investment capital with intense hands-on training and leadership development. By building the right ecosystems and identifying the right partners and investors, we rapidly accelerate pre-seed and seed-stage companies, often producing 9 to 12 months worth of growth over the course of a three month continuity program. Over the last three years, we’ve worked with over 350 early stage founders to develop a repeatable process and curriculum that has greatly improved both the overall value and survival rates of over 150 startups. This coming program will be virtual in light of COVID-19.
