On Thursday May 3rd, Quake Capital launched it's Los Angeles location with a bang at the WeWork Gas Tower in Downtown Los Angeles. With over 150 guests in attendance, the excitement for the Quake team to enter the Los Angeles market was clear.
As Quake takes a position of collaboration rather than competition, about a third of the guests were other Venture firms in the LA area, many whom look forward to sourcing potential investments from Quake's accelerator. Only minutes away from the USC campus, a number of the entrepreneurship Professors and Program Directors also came out to support Quake's launch as they are excited to create a funnel of talent from the USC ecosystem into Quake's accelerator.
Los Angeles Managing Partner Priscilla Pesci spoke at the event stating, "The teams coming into Quake LA are some of the strongest we’ve seen yet, and we are excited about progressing these talented companies to the next level." She drew a star-studded crowd with her entertainment industry colleagues in attendance, including executives from Warner Bros, MGM, and ClixTV to name a few. Founding Partner Glenn Argenbright flew in from NYC especially for the launch, along with several of Quake's NYC portfolio including Stemless, Junkless, and BC3 Technologies.
The event was generously sponsored in part by TriNet, RedBull, Silverlake Winery, TKO Art, and Junkless. Photos from the event can be seen here.
