October 27th marked the first session of Quake’s monthly University Investor Series (UIS), a virtual pitchfest during which student entrepreneurs presented to a panel of pre-seed and early seed stage investors. In the inaugural meeting, conducted via Google Hangouts, fifteen teams from eleven schools across the country pitched to five experienced investors. These investors work with funds specializing in everything from space technology and virtual reality (Autochrome Ventures) to low-tech consumer products (Brand Foundry), making investments ranging from $25k-$500k. One student spokesperson from each team had eight minutes to pitch his or her idea, with a portion of that time devoted to Q&A and feedback from experienced professionals. After each startup had presented, they were connected with interested investors to discuss their ventures and potential investments. Quake’s UIS moderators saw strong, innovative pitches, and we look forward to following the success of these startups!
If you have an early-stage company looking to develop market leading products, services and solutions, then Quake can help. UIS is open to all current matriculated university students that are founders of an active, operating company with an MVP or working prototype. Quake can provide the capital, tools, access, expertise, and advisers to make your vision a reality. We anticipate another exciting session next month, on Wednesday, November 16th from 6:30-8:30 PM.
