When choosing startups to accept into our accelerator program, the Quake team not only looks for incredible businesses, but also incredible co-founders. The newest member of our Innerlink virtual accelerator, Woofy, demonstrates how culture is key for a startup company. Woofy is a social media management tool that uses AI and machine learning technology to suggest and post the most optimal content, and co-founders Arjun Rai and Matt Friedberg are both dedicated hustlers who put company culture above everything else.
Arjun has been an entrepreneur since he was sixteen and now has almost a decade of experience starting and building companies from the ground up. He comes from an adtech and SaaS background, which makes him the perfect guy to start a social media management startup. When Arjun decided to build Woofy, he knew the person to call was Matt. With his accounting, finance, and legal background, Matt had everything Arjun felt was missing, and had just graduated from Fordham Business School when Arjun texted him to discuss a new idea (fun fact: you can find that exact text on Woofy’s app in the Calendar section)! Realizing that traditional accounting and finance were not the right career paths for him, Matt came on board the Woofy team and they hit the ground running.
Both of the Woofy founders have outstanding interpersonal skills and share similar values-- an incredibly important trait for business partners. Many of Woofy’s company values stem from tech giants in the space that inspire the founders. Matt has a fitness background so naturally, Google’s free lunch and physical and mental health programs really resonate with him. He has already implemented similar programs at Woofy and believes that taking care of employees is truly the best way to grow a company. Arjun places his focus on uninhibited innovation and a drive to pursue the impossible. Pair this dogged personality with a focus on design and user experience and that’s what Arjun wants to bring to Woofy. Unsurprisingly, Arjun’s biggest inspiration is Elon Musk and his company, Tesla. Arjun believes that you can always trust Tesla to create a beautiful product with impeccable design and he hopes that Woofy can promise the same for its users.
When asked about future projections for their burgeoning startup, Arjun and Matt hope to expand their office to San Francisco by next year and add new talent to their already-impressive team. Quake has been a huge tool for them to meet mentors, find strategic guidance, and increase their funding prospects for their upcoming Series A round.
